Celebrities and athlete endorsements can help take any brand to the next level. Having a celebrity or an athlete endorse your brand can bring it more attention and drive sales. With the right campaign, brands can (almost) instantly become recognized as top of its own brand categories with a great celebrity endorsement on it, lending star power gold dust to the brands image. Sports endorsements are a gigantic industry amassing astronomical dollars in revenue and reaching millions. For athletes, it should be about what brands do you already liken to and use for free. Can your household name increase the brand’s likeness? This relationship can be great for all parties because the partnership can grow, and with the athlete's lifestyle and the brands being associated with sports, it's a win-win situation that’ll benefit everyone.
Whether LeBron James is sipping a cool Sprite with a new pair of Nikes on during a commercial, Federer is driving to the tennis court in his Mercedes Benz, Tom Brady is flaunting new Under Armour gear during his offseason workouts, or Cristiano Ronaldo is drinking Gatorade, big name brands are willing to spend big time dollars on athlete endorsements for many reasons. Endorsements from athletes help create competitive advantages in the marketplace which help ensure the long-term success and profitability of big name companies. The increase in revenue created from these competitive advantages from athlete endorsements easily outweighs the costs brands pay athletes in order to endorse products, making athlete product endorsements highly effective. In fact, these highly profitable rates of return earned on investments by big name brands on endorsement deals paid to athletes are actually, well, quite a bargain for companies to capitalize on in order to increase brand awareness, equity, image and thus long-term success and revenue.
